Last week's episode of 'Immortal Song 2' paid tribute to one of the iconic groups in K-pop, Cool. Cool will always be remembered for their great summer songs but members Kim Yuri, Kim Sung Soo, and Lee Jae Hoon also displayed the range and talent to tackle many other genres and styles of music as well. That talent along with help from great song writers (like Yoon Il Sang) helped Cool create some of the best known and widely recognized songs in K-pop, which were on full display on the show.
While it was great seeing all of great performances, this certainly wasn't the first time that other artists borrowed from Cool's repertoire. Today's Way Back Wednesday will take a look at some of the best covers and remakes of Cool's many hits. I setup the list a little differently this time to show different takes of the same song (where it applied). Take a listen and enjoy because, as old school K-pop fans know, the summer belongs to Cool.
"Woman of the Beach"
I said in a WBW article a few weeks ago that this is the ultimate K-pop summer anthem 16 years running.
Infinite Sunggyu
Crayon Pop

"All for You"
Not only my favorite Cool ballad but one of the true great ballads in K-pop from a group you would never suspect.
A Pink Eunji & Seo In Guk
Girl's Day
Original
"Sorrow"
I think it's interesting that two of the best covers were from more indie band type groups and not your typical idol group. By the way, in the 10cm video, that guy with the blond hair and glasses is the composer Yoon Il Sang.

LUNAFLY

"Before Sadness Comes"
Lee Jung
Lena Park & Kim Bum Soo
Wax (a remake for her 5th album)

"In Front of Your House"
I couldn't find a lot of covers of this song but wanted to include it to show that in addition to "All to You", Cool had some really great slow tempo songs.
Huh Gak

"Destiny"
ZE:A
Taeyeon & Kangin

Bonus
Last Saturday's appearance on the show as the first time in four years that all three members have performed together. During that span, Kim Sung Soo and Lee Jae Hoon have performed sporadically with guest singers filling in for the missing Kim Yuri. I had to include two performances that any uncle fan would love.

There's a month and a half left of summer so go out and enjoy the sun with some of these classic hits from the ultimate summertime K-pop group.
