It's been a long time since November of 2011 when Brown Eyed Girls promoted "Cleansing Cream", the repackage single from their super successful 'Sixth Sense' album. Since then both JeA and Miryo have gone solo for the first time, while Ga In brought us her second solo album and filmed a movie, and Narsha had a reoccurring role in the popular drama 'Ooh La La Couple'. The girls haven't exactly been gone, but Everlastings have certainly missed seeing them all together as a group, and while 'The Original' helped tide us all over while we waited for a full on comeback, it's about time we finally got to see all four together and on stage once again.

'Kill Bill' is every bit as big and bombastic as you would expect a Brown Eyed Girl's single to be. The quartet sings about having "committed something bad" to a loser boyfriend, revealing that he's ugly sobbing over whatever they've done, but that their revenge isn't nearly strong enough for whatever he did wrong, hinting that there may be more to come and taunting him with the line "Don't you wanna kill me?"
The song lyrically and stylistically calls back to the power group's first smash hit "Abracadabra", throwing a western-inspired twist on it with a whistley synth line, acoustic guitar strums, and the sounds of whips cracking (not to mention the sexy cowboy / pirate / musketeer costumes for stage performances- I'm not sure what they were going for but who cares? They look great!) "Kill Bill" sets the stage for an album that is very much a reminder of where BEG has already been- drawing on the R&B, funk, and latin inspiration of their previous releases, easily mixing instrumental music with electronic in a way that most other K-Pop groups have yet to master. 'Black Box' doesn't bring anything new or game-changing to the table, but it doesn't really have to either. The members all tried new things for their solo efforts over the last few years, this album is the whole group coming back home and showing us that they haven't forgotten who they are.
After a recent fanmeeting, Ga In reportedly said that Brown Eyed Girls will no longer have a hiatus of two years between album releases anymore, and their next release will come sooner than expected- news that we're all glad to hear, I'm sure. It's been too long since they've done a full comeback as a group, so it's nice to see that they're still same Brown Eyed Girls we all know and love.
