On the 14th, YG Entertainment couple Sean and Jung Hye Young visited Holt Children's Services to donate 100 million won (~$94,631.70 USD) towards education for impoverished children.
Sean and Jung Hye Young started the 'Dreams and Hope Support Fund' in 2009 by donating 100 million won of their revenue from endorsements. This year marks the 5th anniversary of their yearly donation. The couple has donated a total of 500 million won (~$472,830.62) to date.
Through the 'Dreams and Hope Support Fund', the couple has provided educational funding for over 100 children from low-income families, one-parent households, living with their grandparents, and multi-cultural families. Sean and Jung Hye Young started donating in 2007 when they became the spokespersons for Holt Children's Services. Through their work with the organization, they found out about the children within the country who were struggling to survive.
Beyond the support fund, Sean and Jung Hye Young support and participate in summer camps every year, creating precious memories with the children and providing a space for the children to focus on their goals.
YG Entertainment has also participated in this campaign and donates 300 million won (~$283,890.31) ever year to support 300 underprivileged children and their education.
Park Ye Eun (14 years old), who received support from the 'Dreams and Hope Support Fund', started ballet lessons and went on to win a prize at the National Rhythm Gymnastics Competition. Kim Han Sun (14 years old) found his skills in art and went on to place first in the animation category of an art competition. Park Jae Hong (14 years old) was able to pursue his dream of soccer and is now a member of the Korean National Youth Soccer Team.
Beyond their 'Dreams and Hope Support Fund', Sean and Jung Hye Young created the Jung Hye Young Scholarship last year for college student who were struggling with tuition. In total, the couple has donated over 600 million won (~$567,986.04).
