Contestants Brian Shin, McKay Kim, and Kim Min Suk teamed up in the latest episode of SBS' 'K-Pop Star 2'.
The latest episode centered around the casting auditions, where the remaining contestants were divided into teams and forced to collaborate with each other, adding a mixture of uncertainty into the audition. After listening to their performances, the three judges would select which of the contestants to take with them for further training before the next round of competition.
The judges were surprised when they heard that the trio - who named themselves 'Raccoon Boys' - would be covering Michael Jackson's seminal hit, "Thriller", noting that it was a very hard song to cover.
However, with the vocals of the two Californians combined with a fresh new rap of Kim Min Suk's own making, the trio managed to wow the judges, receiving an enthusiastic ovation from the table.
"You guys brought into focus each others' positive traits while maintaining the feel of the original," BoA praised. "I just enjoyed watching it."
"It's rare that I get the chills when I watch amateurs. I want to pay money to buy this song," Yang Hyun Suk added.
The three of them were all eventually casted by J.Y. Park, who told them, "I'm going to bring you in, not interfere, and watch what happens."
"They're not only finalist candidates, but I want to debut them right now," he enthused in a later interview.
