The industry is abuzz with the news that top star Lee Seung Gi will be starring in a new drama with Ha Ji Won.
According to several officials, Lee Seung Gi will star opposite Ha Ji Won as the main protagonists of MBC's 'The King'. Technically, the contract hasn't been signed yet, but it's been said that they've already made a verbal agreement.
On January 19th, a staff member revealed, "Lee Seung Gi and Ha Ji Won will be starring together in 'The King'." The source continued, "The subject of casting has been brought up many times between the agency and the staff. Ha Ji Won and Lee Seung Gi have not signed the contracts yet, but aside from that, it's been confirmed that these two will be starring in the drama."
'The King' is a romantic comedy that follows a North Korean spy and a South Korean prince who is heir to the throne.
The drama will be directed by PD Lee Jae Kyu and was written by the sisters Hong Jin Ah and Hong Ja Ram who created popular hits like 'Damo' and 'Beethoven Virus'.
It will be Ha Ji Won's first drama production in over a year after she concluded 'Secret Garden'. Likewise, Lee Seung Gi hasn't touched a drama series since last year's 'My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox'.
'The King' is to air in March after the conclusion of 'The Moon That Embraces the Sun'.
