Shin Jung Hwan has been sentenced to jail, and it's said that he is not planning to request to be released on parole.
On September 6th, Shin Jung Hwan submitted his withdrawal for appeal to the Seoul Central District Court. By this, Shin Jung Hwan has given up his rights to appeal at the Supreme Court, as well as accepting his sentence. It is reported that he does not have any plans to be released on parole.
As Shin Jung Hwan has been on trial since last June, he will be released early next year. With the current justice system, a prisoner can request to be released on parole after finishing one-third of their jail sentence. As Shin Jung Hwan is known to have problems with his leg, there are strong speculations that he will most likely request to be released on parole.
However, Shin Jung Hwan's spokesperson stated, "If Shin Jung Hwan's leg condition does not get worse, there is no plan to request to be released on parole", revealing his strong will to receive fair punishment.
At the final trial in June, Shin Jung Hwan was sentenced to 8 months jail time. There was an attempt to appeal the sentence, but the court ruled that "Despite his two prior offenses of the same kind, he has gone abroad to gamble. Shin Jung Hwan has aroused attention about constant gambling to the teens as a celebrity, and this enough is not a light crime," dismissing the appeal.
