TV personality Shin Jung Hwan may be summoned for police questioning after making explosive claims about sex bribery in the Korean entertainment industry.
On April 23rd, a citizen filed a report with the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, urging authorities to investigate possible violations of the Act on the Punishment of Arranging Sexual Traffic, based on Shin’s remarks. The case is currently under review by the Women’s Safety Division.
In a video titled "Unfiltered Discussion of the Century! (feat. Power, Celebrities, and Sex Bribery)," uploaded to his YouTube channel 'NonNonNon' on April 21st, Shin shared what he described as firsthand experiences witnessing celebrity sex bribes involving high-profile businessmen.
“I overheard some senior businessmen talking among themselves, unaware that I was listening,” Shin said. “They were bragging about who they met the previous night, even mentioning specific amounts—one said 5 million won, another said 10 million won. All three mentioned the same female celebrity. I was shocked to learn they were paying to play golf and dine with her, followed by sexual favors.”

Fellow entertainer Kang Byung Kyu, who appeared alongside Shin in the video, added, “There was even a list circulating back then with names and prices.”
They also alleged that a Chinese businessman once offered 2 billion KRW (approximately 1.45 million USD) to arrange a meeting with a female celebrity.
In the formal report, the citizen argued that such behavior may constitute a violation under Article 4 of the aforementioned law, which prohibits arranging or facilitating sexual services for financial gain.
“This cannot be dismissed as mere gossip,” the complainant stated. “A thorough investigation is necessary in the public interest.”
Given that Shin made these statements publicly, authorities may summon him for questioning as a reference witness to verify the claims. Whether this could trigger a broader investigation into sex bribery in the entertainment industry remains to be seen.
