NCT WISH is facing criticism after their recent appearance on SBS PowerFM’s 'Cultwo Show,' where their lack of engagement during the broadcast left many listeners unimpressed.
The April 22 episode featured solo artist Chuu, who recently returned with her mini-album 'Only Cry in the Rain,' along with NCT WISH, who released their second mini-album 'poppop' earlier this month. While Chuu led the atmosphere with her bright energy, quick reactions, and cheerful attitude, NCT WISH showed a noticeably different presence.

During the broadcast, which was streamed as a visual radio show, the group members mostly looked down, gave short or hesitant answers, and appeared passive throughout. In an interactive segment called the 'Kkonyang-i Challenge', only a few members participated, while others remained quiet, which drew negative reactions from viewers.
Live messages from listeners highlighted the group’s demeanor, with comments like “Look up!” and “Hold the mic properly!” catching attention. Key from SHINee, a senior artist under the same agency, SM Entertainment, also made an unexpected comment during the show, saying, “We’re watching, so do better.”
The show’s host Kim Tae Gyun addressed the awkwardness directly, joking that “NCT WISH is completely frozen.” He also thanked member Sion for his small burst of enthusiasm during a conversation about baseball, saying, “You seem a bit more lively when we talk about baseball. Thank you for pushing through, even though this isn’t easy.”
After the show aired, online communities were filled with critical responses. Many users commented that the group seemed disinterested and unprepared. “The overall energy was just low,” one person wrote. “It wasn’t just a few clips—it felt like they didn’t want to be there at all.”
Another listener said, “They barely talked, and when they did, they mumbled so much that it made the broadcast uncomfortable. It wasn’t just unprofessional—it was hard to watch.”
Some questioned whether the group should have appeared on a radio show at all. “Radio is all about energy and voice. If they weren’t ready to engage, it might not have been the right platform for them,” one person remarked.
Even fans acknowledged that this wasn’t the first time concerns about the group’s on-air attitude had been raised. “We’ve talked about this before. Their reactions and expressions have often felt flat, even during fan content,” one fan shared.
However, others pointed out that NCT WISH is still a young group with international members, and that their lack of experience in live broadcasts might explain the performance. Supporters expressed hope that the group will grow more comfortable over time and return with a stronger presence in future appearances.
