On March 20th, singer Son Dambi headed for Thailand to participate in the "2011 Pattaya International Music Festival". The star also was made a visit to the Pattaya Orphanage during her stay there. Bringing school supplies, Korean t-shirts, and numerous snacks, the singer spent a full day with the orphaned children. Kneeling down to their level and hugging 20 of the younger children, she conversed affectionately with each of them, so much so that the children refused to let her leave and began crying when it came time for her to move around. She commented, "The children are so beautiful, I was glad that they gazed at me with innocent eyes, even though I'm from another country. It's an honor to be able to participate in Thailand's biggest music festival as a representative of Korea. I'm so happy I was able to spend time with the children here." In celebration of her visit, 20 children prepared a special traditional dance performance. Afterwards, Son Dambi thanked the staff members and instructors for giving her such a heartwarming opportunity and took part in a photo session with the children and members of the orphanage. The orphanage's priest commented, "We're glad that a popular Korean idol singer visited the orphanage." After giving her a gift for her visit, she continued, "We'll be printing out the picture she took with the children and hanging it up inside the orphanage." The Korean Cultural Exchange Foundation added, "We're currently working to get more popular Korean celebrities to make visits overseas to allow for more cultural exchanges. Thus far, celebrities such as SHINee and Jang Seo Hee have made visits to Mongolia, Vietnam, Thailand, and Japan." Source: Korea Economic via Nate
