Earlier today we shared with you photos and the experience of the Wonder Girls spicing up the Pivot Conference 2010 in New York. According to the website, Pivot is "a marketing conference for brand marketers who seek to understand the style, attitudes, technologies and preferences of the 18–34 year old consumer as they make first-time brand choices... Engage in the experience of social marketing. Reach the always-on consumer." One of the keynote speakers at this conference was none other than Park Jin Young (JYP), and his keynote presentation was streamed live on the web. In the keynote presentation, he talks about how, we had someone who broke down the cultural boundaries with high album sales in all four corners of the globe back when Michael Jackson was in his prime. Over time, that has shifted and that isn't the case anymore. For example, America's top selling artist, Usher has pretty poor album sales in Asia. In fact, out of the top 100 album sales in Asia, not one was American. JYP talks about why this happened and how to build a global brand that crosses cultural boundaries. JYP also briefly mentioned a TV series currently filming with the Wonder Girls, which is of course about five talented Asian pop stars crossing over to America. Not much information was given but he did mention it will broadcast around the world. He also stated that the Wonder Girls' next album will have tracks composed by song writers who wrote songs for artists such as Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears. Check out the insightful presentation below. Tip: anna
