(G)I-DLE's Miyeon says it's possible to not like a celebrity without any reason

AKP STAFF

(G)I-DLE's Miyeon shared  a perspective that resonates with many in the realm of celebrity culture.

On the second episode of Girl's Day member Hyeri's YouTube talk show, Miyeon made a guest appearance and showed off her chemistry with Hyeri while candidly sharing her thoughts on different questions. When Hyeri asked how she feels when someone criticizes her, Miyeon answered, "People these days have very keen eyes. I relate to those comments. If I sang a song and made a mistake, they could spot it right away. So if they say that I didn't sing well, I just admit it. I could be rationalizing what I did but I try to be better next time when I read those types of comments."

Miyeon then added, "There aren't many people who say, 'I hate you!' without any reason." But Hyeri said, "No, there are." Hyeri then added, "But I actually don't mind that." Miyeon continued, "We like people without any reason. Those who like you, like you for no reason. So I think people can just don't like you without any reason. Especially since we're celebrities."

Hyeri agreed, saying that it's a very healthy mindset to have. Miyeon then thanked Hyeri for her support, "I know not everyone agrees with what I think. But Hyeri always supports me. It's reassuring when she says it could be that way. Whenever I second guess myself, Hyeri says it's possible and okay to think that way. I had many moments when I felt grateful to have you."

I always wonder if she is the trainee that quit because of preferential treatment towards Jennie, I know we will never know because honesty isn't a policy in kpop but it always pops up in my head when I see her.

There is always a reason why we like an idol rather than another (skills, personality, beauty, etc.) but hating an idol is strange, it's usually a matter of envy and frustration that turns into a personal outburst. I mean, if we don't like an idol or dislike her/him for some reason, just unfollow her/him.
