
Renowned broadcaster and comedian Kim Gook Jin is mourning the loss of his mother, Lee Jae Sook, who passed away on the afternoon of April 7 at the age of 91.
According to the entertainment industry on April 8, a memorial altar has been set up at Room 1 of Yonsei Severance Hospital Funeral Hall in Sinchon, Seoul. The funeral service is scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. on April 10.
Kim is currently staying at the funeral hall alongside his wife, singer and fellow TV personality Kang Susie, as the couple grieves the loss in deep sorrow.
Kim Gook Jin began his career in 1991 as part of the 7th open recruitment for comedians by KBS. He rose to prominence throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, taking on roles not only as a variety show host but also as a lead actor in dramas and sitcoms, earning widespread popularity.
Though he took a brief hiatus from the spotlight, Kim successfully returned to the entertainment scene in 2007 through his appearance on the popular talk show 'Radio Star.'
He continued to regain popularity with appearances on hit programs like 'Qualifications of Men' and 'Golbal Junior Show.' His relationship with Kang Susie, which blossomed on the variety show 'Flaming Youth,' garnered public attention, and the couple tied the knot in 2018.
