Singer Wheesung has passed away peacefully.

His funeral service was held on the morning of March 16 at 6:20 AM at Seoul Samsung Hospital's funeral hall in Gangnam, following his passing on the 10th. The service was attended by fellow entertainers and over 100 fans who gathered to bid him farewell on his final journey.

Wheesung’s younger brother, Dr. Choi Hyuk Seong, a rehabilitation specialist, held back tears as he delivered a heartfelt message to the mourners.

"Over the past two days, many people have expressed their condolences for my brother. It wasn’t easy to hold the funeral, but I felt it was right to share this last moment with those who remembered and loved him," he said.

Choi Hyuk Seong continued, "At home, my brother was a stoic person. But from what I’ve heard from his colleagues and on broadcasts, he was actually very caring and warm. However, he was always lonely and struggling. Our family wanted to understand why and to help, but this was something that couldn't be solved by the efforts of others. I hope fans and colleagues won’t blame themselves."

A psychiatrist who attended the funeral offered words of comfort, saying, "Sometimes, there are aspects of illness that are beyond human control." Choi Hyuk Seong responded, "Please don’t blame yourselves. Instead, remember the music my brother left behind," sharing a message of hope amid the sadness.

He added, "Though the life of Choi Wheesung as a person has ended, the music of Wheesung the singer will live on. As long as his songs are heard, he will remain with us." Choi Hyuk Seong urged, "Please pass Wheesung’s music on to the next generation so that he will never be forgotten. By doing so, my brother will live on forever with us."

Wheesung debuted in 2002 and became known for his distinctive emotional vocals, leaving behind hit songs such as "Can't You", "Incurable Disease", and "Even Thought About Marriage."
