Bong Joon Ho's new film 'Mickey 17' has maintained the top spot at the weekend box office for three consecutive weeks. However, its box office momentum has slowed, and it has not yet surpassed 3 million viewers.
Initially, 'Mickey 17' was expected to surpass 3 million viewers by the weekend, but as it entered its third week of release, its box office momentum weakened significantly, making it face tough competition from upcoming new releases. As of 7 a.m. on March 17, 'Mickey 17' ranked fourth in advance ticket sales, with about 16,700 pre-sales.
Released on February 28, 'Mickey 17' follows the story of Mickey, an expendable worker who is repeatedly regenerated after dying on dangerous missions. When Mickey reaches his 17th death, he is presumed dead, leading to the printing of Mickey 18—an event that sets off an unpredictable chain of events.

The production cost of 'Mickey 17' is reported to be 118 million USD. Regarding its global performance, international media outlet Variety predicted, "With global sales also underperforming, 'Mickey 17' will not achieve profitability in theaters."
Despite being Bong Joon Ho's first film in six years following his Oscar-winning success with 'Parasite' (2019), the movie has yet to make a major box office impact, making its financial performance a topic of interest.
