Sungjong of INFINITE has won a lawsuit against his former agency over unpaid settlement fees.
Recently, Sungjong filed a civil lawsuit against his previous agency, SPK Entertainment (CEO Kim Seung Pil),demanding the payment of outstanding earnings. The court ruled in his favor.
Sungjong signed an exclusive contract with SPK Entertainment in August 2022, but was not provided with the contractually promised signing bonus, nor the necessary support for broadcasting appearances, fan meetings, and album releases.
Despite sending a certification of contents requesting rectification for multiple contract violations, SPK Entertainment remained unresponsive. As a result, Sungjong officially notified the agency of contract termination last year. A provisional injunction for the suspension of his exclusive contract was later granted, allowing him to resume independent activities.
Alongside his contract dispute, Sungjong also filed a lawsuit demanding unpaid earnings from INFINITE’s group activities, YouTube appearances, and a Japanese fan meeting, covering a span of two years. After nearly a year of legal proceedings, the court ruled in his favor on February 28th.
The court ordered, “The defendant (SPK Entertainment) must pay the plaintiff (Lee Sungjong) the outstanding settlement amount with an annual interest rate of 6% from April 21st, 2023, to February 28th, 2025, and 12% thereafter until the full amount is paid.”
Meanwhile, INFINITE made a grand comeback to the music industry with the release of their 8th mini-album, ‘LIKE INFINITE,’ on March 6th KST. They are set to hold their 15th anniversary tour, ‘LIMITED EDITION’ encore concerts on April 12th and 13th at Inspire Arena in Incheon, where they will reunite with fans.
