The Boyz member Sunwoo recently became embroiled in an attitude controversy, and his agency issued an apology and statement as the controversy heightened.
On April 13, his agency, One Hundred Label, issued an official statement, saying, “We recognize that Sunwoo’s appearance in the video could understandably raise concerns. Sunwoo himself has been quietly reflecting after ongoing communication with us..”
They continued, “However, the situation has progressed in a way that differs from the intended direction of reflection, which we find unfortunate. We sincerely regret not having taken a more active approach before this incident occurred, and we also regret the artist’s careless behavior.”
The agency also issued a strong warning to malicious commenters. They stated, “Lastly, we cannot ignore the baseless, malicious comments being posted in relation to this situation. We are preparing strong legal action to protect our artist."
Below is the full statement from One Hundred Label:
"Hello, this is One Hundred.
We are fully aware of the recent controversy involving The Boyz member Sunwoo that has been widely discussed across media and various online communities over the past few days.
First, we deeply apologize for failing to properly manage our artist regarding the issue related to his personality.
We recognize that Sunwoo’s appearance in the video could understandably raise concerns. Sunwoo himself has been quietly reflecting after ongoing communication with us.
However, the situation has progressed in a way that differs from the intended direction of reflection, which we find unfortunate. We sincerely regret not having taken a more active approach before this incident occurred, and we also regret the artist’s careless behavior.
All of our artists should be protected and managed under the company’s care. This issue regarding Sunwoo’s personality is entirely our fault, and the artist is also reflecting deeply on areas he hadn’t previously recognized. Based on ongoing communication with our artists, we at One Hundred will do our utmost to prevent such incidents from happening again. We once again offer our deepest apologies.
Lastly, we cannot ignore the baseless, malicious comments being posted in relation to this situation. We are preparing strong legal action to protect our artist.
Thank you."
Previously, a video clip of Sunwoo was circulated on several online communities and social media platforms, sparking criticisms about his attitude.
In the video, Sunwoo is seen dropping his AirPods while moving between schedules. Rather than picking them up himself, he shouts “AirPods!” loudly. A security guard then picks them up and hands them to him with both hands, but Sunwoo receives them with one hand and does not express any gratitude, which led to backlash.
The controversy intensified when Nana left a comment under the video, saying, “He needs to be scolded,” drawing even more attention. As the issue escalated, Nana clarified on a fan communication platform, “It could have been a misunderstanding. Anyone could be misinterpreted depending on the situation.”
Still, she added, “I don’t know who he is, but if someone like that were next to me, I would’ve said the same thing. ‘You need to be scolded,’ and followed up with, ‘Where did you learn to act like that?’”
