During her performance, Jennie was seen in tears while singing "Twin," a song from her first full-length album ‘Ruby.’ The track, which she personally wrote and composed, is placed as the final song on the album and has been described by Jennie as “a song made for just one friend.”
The lyrics of ‘Twin’ include lines like, “It may seem like I’m writing a letter, but I’m actually writing a song,” expressing a heartfelt plea for understanding from someone she shared a decade of youthful innocence with. The song also conveys longing and reassurance, with lyrics such as, “I never left you. I’m still watching over you.”
As Jennie performed the song, she struggled to hold back tears, pausing several times but ultimately finishing the performance despite being visibly emotional.
Fans speculate that the friend Jennie dedicated ‘Twin’ to is Chahee, a former member of Melody Day who has since transitioned into acting. Born in 1996, Jennie and Chahee were known to be close friends since their Cheongdam Middle School days, frequently posting pictures together and celebrating each other’s birthdays on social media until early 2022.
However, since mid-2022, their interactions have seemingly ceased, fueling speculation that Chahee is the person referenced in ‘Twin.’ Some fans have even taken to Chahee’s Instagram, commenting messages like “Jennie sang this song for you.”
