The Wavve-Watcha drama 'The History of Losers' made a strong debut, immediately topping real-time rankings and hinting at a major success.

Upon its release on February 26, 'The History of Losers' quickly climbed to the top of real-time viewership charts. It ranked in the TOP 10 on Wavve and secured the No. 1 spot on Watcha’s real-time rankings. Additionally, according to the OTT content search platform Kinolights, the drama placed 6th on Wavve and 2nd on Watcha, proving its popularity.

'The History of Losers' is a coming-of-age romance-comedy that follows four 20-year-old college boys as they navigate love, heartbreak, and personal growth. Anticipation for the drama was high, especially since the original webtoon’s creator, Kim Poong, was directly involved in the scriptwriting, expanding the original story’s universe.

Episodes 1 and 2 introduce viewers to Seo Min Gi (played by Jo Byeong Kyu), a fresh college student in the year 2000, and his literature department friends: No Jun Seok (played by Ryeoun), Kwon Ki Hyuk (portrayed by Jung Jae Kwang), and Lee Kwang Jae (played by Jung Yong Joo). The episodes depict their awkward yet earnest youthful misadventures. Min Gi’s instant crush on the beautiful and easygoing Kwon Seol Ha (Bang Min Ah) provides plenty of humor, as his timid nature contrasts with Seol Ha’s bold and carefree personality.

As Min Gi shares his encounters with Seol Ha, his friends tease him, saying, “Aren’t you two basically dating?” Though he initially denies his feelings, he becomes anxious when older male students show interest in Seol Ha at a freshman welcome party. His heart races when Seol Ha casually shares her straw with him and puts her arm around his shoulder. Encouraged by his friends, Min Gi excitedly narrates, “For the first time in my life, it felt like romance was about to begin.”

At the end of Episode 2, Min Gi finally gathers the courage to confess his feelings via text after spending a lovely day with Seol Ha. However, he waits eight long hours for a response. The episode concludes with Min Gi’s shocked reaction upon finally receiving her reply, leaving viewers eager for the next episodes.

Meanwhile, 'The History of Losers' had originally completed filming in 2022 but faced delays due to bullying controversies involving lead actors Jo Byeong Kyu and Song Ha Yoon. After three years, the drama has finally made its way to audiences.

New episodes of 'The History of Losers' are released every Wednesday at 11 AM KST on Wavve and Watcha, with two episodes dropping each week.
