A video of Seungri dancing with three Chinese women on a street in Korea recently spread across online communities, sparking controversy.
However, it has been confirmed that the footage is not recent but was actually filmed six years ago.
A video titled "Seungri’s latest update" circulated widely online, showing him dancing with three Chinese influencers while holding a camera. In the clip, Seungri can be heard counting in Chinese to the rhythm of the music. At one point, as the wind tousled his hair, he exclaimed, "My hair!" causing the women around him to burst into laughter.
As the video spread, netizens reacted coldly, leaving comments such as "He’s really living well despite everything," "Unbelievable," and "Shameless." However, upon verification by Herald POP on February 10th, the footage was confirmed to be from 2019, not a recent recording.
At the time, a Chinese influencer posted the video amid the Burning Sun scandal, expressing support for Seungri. She wrote, "I miss him so much and wish him all the best. I hope all the luck in the world comes his way. (I hesitated to post this video before because I was afraid it would harm my image)." The comment section was also filled with messages supporting Seungri.
Seungri, a former member of BIGBANG, was at the center of the Burning Sun Gate scandal. He left the group and was sentenced to one year and six months in prison on charges including habitual gambling, violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (illegal filming), violation of the Prostitution Punishment Act, and embezzlement. He completed his sentence and was released in February 2023.
