Fraudster indicted for selling fake discount tickets to Psy’s ‘Summer Swag’ concert.
A 20-something individual, identified as A, has been indicted and detained on charges of fraud after scamming concertgoers by falsely claiming to sell discounted tickets for Psy’s ‘Summer Swag’ (흠뻑쇼) concert series.
The Suwon District Prosecutors’ Office, Seongnam Branch announced on February 25 that A has been formally indicted on charges of fraud.
A is accused of swindling approximately 5.8 million KRW (around $4,000 USD) from 370 victims by claiming to sell employee-discounted tickets for Psy’s concert. However, investigations revealed that A never secured any tickets nor appeared at the event venues, making the entire operation a fraudulent scheme.
Adding to the deception, A allegedly attempted to intimidate victims by filing counter-lawsuits or coercing them into signing settlement agreements in exchange for refunds.
As demand for ‘Summer Swag’ concert tickets surged last year, Psy had issued a public warning against ticket scalping and fraudulent resellers.
He urged fans to avoid illegally resold tickets, stating:
“Please completely disregard premium ticket resellers and scalpers. I sincerely ask that you purchase tickets at their original price. I hope to see stricter regulations against illegal ticket sales.”
