Actor Choo Young Woo from 'The Tale of Lady Ok' and 'The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call' has apologized for the recent "SNS followers list controversy."
During an interview marking the conclusion of JTBC’s weekend drama 'The Tale of Lady Ok' at a café in Cheongdam-dong, Seoul, on February 4, Choo Young Woo stated that he would be more mindful of his actions.
Recently concluded, 'The Tale of Lady Ok' follows the story of Ok Tae Young (played by Lim Ji Yeon), an outsider whose name, status, and husband were all fake, and Cheon Seung Hwi (played by Choo Young Woo), who risked his life to protect her. Choo Young Woo played a dual role as both Cheon Seung Hwi and Sung Yoon Gyeom.
On this day, he apologized for his Instagram followers list controversy. The actor was recently criticized after screenshots of his follower list circulated online, revealing that he was following numerous influencers and streamers known for risqué and explicit content.
Choo Young Woo candidly shared, "As I receive this much attention and love, I realize I need to be more careful with my words and actions. My personal intentions or thoughts may be perceived differently by others, leading to misunderstandings."
He added, "I’ve come to think that I need to refine my thoughts more carefully. Regarding the follower list issue, there was no special intent. I often watch Reels and Shorts, and it happened naturally. I sincerely apologize if that made anyone feel uncomfortable, and I will be more cautious moving forward."
When asked if he felt unfairly criticized for a personal matter like his SNS activity, Choo Young Woo responded, "It’s okay because it’s something I just need to handle well. I love acting so much that I can endure these things. It might sound cliché, but I am genuinely working hard to become a good actor and a good person."
