The latest controversy over the workplace bullying surrounding the late MBC weathercaster Oh Yoanna continues and more individuals are being roped into the case.
Jang Sung Kyu has been the latest focus in this ongoing controversy. The former JTBC anchor has been accused of 'Bullying Complicity' with some online users criticizing him for not intervening in the incident involving Oh Yoanna and Kim Ga Young.
Earlier, there were reports that Kim Ga Young tried to drive a wedge between Oh Yoanna and broadcaster Jang Sung Kyu. An insider stated, "Kim Ga Young co-hosts a morning show with Jang Sung Kyu. She knew that Oh Yoanna and Jang Sung Kyu were close since they worked out together. After finding this out, Kim Ga Young told Jang Sung Kyu, ‘Oppa, she’s a liar. She has no decency,’ trying to turn him against her. Upon hearing this, Jang Sung Kyu later confronted Oh Yoanna, saying, ‘I heard you lie a lot,’ which shocked her. When she asked, ‘Who said that?’ he replied, ‘Kim Ga Young did.’”
Following the reports, some online users accused Jang Sung Kyu of not doing enough to stop the bullying when he heard rumors about Oh Yoanna. Many flocked to his social media account to leave malicious comments, even calling him a "Murderer."
With growing criticism, Jang Sung Kyu responded on his social media platform, explaining, "When my name was first mentioned in this case, some of the details were untrue. It was upsetting, but I believed that my distress was nothing compared to the pain of the deceased and her family, so I chose to remain silent. However, as time passed, more people began to interpret my silence as an admission, and negative comments started appearing on my social media.”
While some netizens are continuing to criticize Jang Sung Kyu, a large number are showing support for the broadcaster. They are hoping he takes legal action against the malicious commenters once Oh Yoanna's case is concluded.
They commented:
"The haters probably think they’re serving justice by doing this. Sigh."
"The whole thing felt way too fabricated and manipulated."
"Back then, there were people in the comments here subtly trying to push the narrative that Jang Sung Kyu was involved, even though he had nothing to do with it. They seemed out of their minds. Seriously, what a struggle."
"It was weird how people ignored MBC, the real cause of the problem, and focused their attacks on Jang Sung Kyu instead. If you don’t know the full story, don’t add to the conversation. They’re just addicted to the dopamine rush..."
"Please, just sue them."
"This is seriously disgusting. Why are they like this?"
"I hope he sues them. They have no sense of boundaries and just keep crossing the line."
"People like that need to be sued. Seriously, ugh."
"I read all the KakaoTalk messages too. Jang Sung Kyu was mentioned, but there was nothing about him bullying anyone. He was just asking if something was wrong. So why are people leaving hate comments there?"
"They’re insane..."
"There are so many crazy people. Do they really think they’re being righteous? There are similar people here too. I wish they’d actually use their brains for once."
"People need to realize that attacking Jang Sung Kyu like this makes them no different from the real perpetrators. But I guess they don’t have the intelligence to understand that, which is why they’re acting like this."
"Jang Sung Kyu was literally just asking if something was wrong because he was concerned. Why are they attacking him?"
"Honestly, the haters are just excited to finally have something to bash. They don’t care about the deceased at all. They’re just trash. The only solution is legal action."
"Why are there so many weird people in this world? Society is like this, individuals are like this... I’m really losing faith in humanity."
"Let’s sue them. Jang Sung Kyu was just worried about her. Why are they going after his family too?"
