The Korean drama 'Love Scout' continues its meteoric rise, achieving a peak viewership rating of 12.3%. The show, which airs on SBS, has been climbing steadily in popularity, even capturing the top spot in Saturday’s overall ratings with a 2049 target audience rating of 3.9%.
According to Nielsen Korea, the 8th episode of 'Love Scout,' broadcast on January 25, recorded nationwide ratings of 10.9%, metropolitan ratings of 10.6%, and a peak of 12.3%. The drama also secured first place among all programs aired on Saturday, cementing its dominance as a key player in weekend programming.
The series, directed by Ham Joon Ho and Kim Jae Hong and written by Ji Eun, has been breaking records with each episode. Its explosive popularity has already propelled it past the 2023 hit Revenant, placing it within the top 20 of SBS’s all-time Friday-Saturday drama ratings. Episode 4 had previously set a milestone with an 11.3% nationwide viewership, earning a spot at 20th place on this prestigious list.
The 8th episode had viewers’ hearts racing as it explored a mix of secret workplace romance, complicated human relationships, and intense office conflicts. Protagonists Ji Yoon (played by Han Ji Min) and Eun Ho (played by Lee Joon Hyuk) captured the audience’s affection with their efforts to balance their professional and personal lives.
A particularly gripping moment came when Eun Ho stood up to the relentless pressure from Chairman Woo (Jo Seung Yeon), a key investor, to protect Ji Yoon. This scene resonated deeply with viewers and was a major driver of the episode’s soaring ratings.
Despite their attempts to keep their feelings hidden, Ji Yoon and Eun Ho found it difficult to conceal their emotions. They communicated through secret signals, winks, and bold displays of affection after work, adding an exhilarating layer to their workplace romance. While their secret relationship became the subject of office rumors, the two never let it interfere with their responsibilities.
Another subplot in the episode focused on lawyer Sun Woo (played by Kim Shin Rok) and her career transition. Struggling to balance her demanding job and a custody battle for her son, Sun Woo decided to reduce her workload to spend more time with her child. Ultimately, her son Tae Yoon (portrayed by Kwon Eun Sung) made the difficult decision to live with his father, allowing his mother to continue her career. With the help of Ji Yoon and Eun Ho, a solution was found, and Sun Woo successfully secured a new position that allowed her to manage both her work and parenting responsibilities.
Eun Ho, having faced his own struggles as a single parent, empathized deeply with Sun Woo and played a key role in helping her navigate this challenging period.
Toward the end of the episode, Ji Yoon faced a new challenge when she rejected Chairman Woo’s personnel recommendation, prompting him to retaliate with unreasonable demands. Ji Yoon, unable to hide her growing unease, found unwavering support in Eun Ho. His quick thinking allowed her to escape a difficult situation, earning him praise from viewers who were moved by his loyalty.
While the drama hints at more obstacles for Ji Yoon, her partnership with Eun Ho offers hope that they can overcome any challenge together. The anticipation for upcoming episodes is at an all-time high as viewers eagerly await how the story will unfold.
