The former top-star couple, Song Hye Kyo and Song Joong Ki, allegedly parted ways due to irreconcilable differences over having children, according to recent revelations from Chinese media.

The Luzhong Morning Post in Shandong Province reported that Song Hye Kyo recently appeared on a broadcast, where she opened up for the first time about her past romance and marriage with Song Joong Ki. During the interview, she revealed that she originally held strong views against marriage. 

However, Song Joong Ki, her co-star in the hit drama 'Descendants of the Sun'—which achieved massive popularity in China—persistently pursued her with marriage in mind. According to Song Hye Kyo, his efforts eventually won her over, and she decided to marry him.

However, trouble arose after the wedding. Disagreements over having children reportedly became a major source of conflict. While Song Joong Ki strongly desired to start a family soon after their marriage, Song Hye Kyo felt differently. She wanted to take her time before considering children, citing concerns about stability in their relationship. These opposing views on such a fundamental issue led to repeated clashes.

Over time, their differences continued to deepen and escalated into irreparable conflict. Just two years after tying the knot, the couple divorced and went their separate ways. Following the split, Song Hye Kyo returned to her previous stance of remaining single. 

Meanwhile, Song Joong Ki remarried in 2023 and is now happily living as the father of two children, a son and a daughter.
