TWICE leader Jihyo, who has recently been linked romantically to Olympic skeleton gold medalist Yoon Sung Bin, shared her firm views on relationships during a recent interview.
On December 4th, Jihyo appeard as the guest on the YouTube channel Narae Style hosted by Park Na Rae
In the episode, Jihyo joined host Park Na Rae for a casual, camping-themed conversation. When Park Na Rae joked, “Is it true guesthouses are like jungles these days?” Jihyo explained, “I’ve heard stories of people meeting there and even getting married.”
The term “jungle” likely refers to the chaotic and unpredictable nature of guesthouses, where people from diverse backgrounds come together, often leading to unexpected connections or relationships.
When Park joked, “So if your boyfriend wanted to go to a guesthouse, you’d object, right?” Jihyo responded candidly, “A cheater will cheat no matter what. If that happens, I’d just cut him loose.”
Park then asked, “So you’d break up without a second chance? Don’t you forgive small mistakes?”
Jihyo firmly replied, “Wouldn’t that make me lose all feelings for him? I believe if someone’s going to cheat, they’ll do it eventually. I’d rather it happen sooner, before I get too attached, so I can end things quickly.” She added, “It would hurt, but what can you do? In the end, we all live life alone.” Her independent stance resonated with viewers.
Jihyo also shared insights into her relationship with fellow TWICE member Jungyeon, whom she named her closest friend in the group. She admitted, “We’ve had the biggest fights. We’re the same age and trained the longest together, so we talk a lot. Once, we almost got into a physical fight. We pushed each other against walls over something so trivial that I don’t even remember what it was. We didn’t formally make up; with close friends, a simple ‘Have you eaten?’ is enough.”
Reflecting on her long journey, Jihyo, who began training at age eight and debuted at 19, said, “I don’t regret missing out on school memories because we’re doing so well now.”
She also opened up about the challenges of being a leader, saying, “When we were renewing our contracts, I wanted to tell the company I didn’t want to be the leader anymore. I think every group needs someone to play the bad guy. Not in a negative way, but someone who can give honest, tough feedback. That’s why I took on the role. Initially, I didn’t think it would be a big responsibility, but now it feels like it’s taking five years off my life. This was especially true during our contract renewal process. I had to respect each member’s thoughts, which were all different, but we all wanted to continue together, so we renewed.”
During the show, Jihyo neither confirmed nor denied rumors of her relationship with Yoon Sung Bin.
