Viral Olympic shooter Kim Ye Ji’s agency, Plpil, announced on the 1st, “Kim Ye Ji has been selected as the first-ever ambassador for Tesla Korea.”
Kim Ye Ji won the silver medal in the women's 10m air pistol final at the 2024 Paris Olympics, held at the Châteauroux Shooting Center in France on July 28 (Korean time).
In the first two rounds of 10 shots, Oh Ye Jin led with 101.7 points, followed by Kim Ye Ji with 101.5 points. Kim Ye Ji then overtook Oh Ye Jin with a score of 141.9 to Oh Ye Jin’s 141.5, leading to an intense battle between the two South Korean athletes for the gold medal. After 19 shots, Oh Ye Jin regained the lead with 192.1 points to Kim Ye Ji’s 191.9.
In the final shot, Oh Ye Jin secured the gold with a score of 232.6 after hitting 10.6, while Kim Ye Ji scored 9.8, finishing with a silver medal at 231.5 points.
Kim Ye Ji captivated global fans with her unique shooting style at the Olympics, attracting special attention from Tesla CEO Elon Musk. During the height of the Olympics in July, Elon Musk shared a video of Kim Ye Ji’s performance on social media, commenting, “She should be cast in an action movie. No acting required,” directly praising her skills.
Media outlet Sports Bible also highlighted Kim Ye Ji on October 30, stating, “Korean shooter Kim Ye Ji set a new world record in the women’s 25m pistol event at a tournament in Baku earlier this year.” In response to the Sports Bible’s social media post on Kim, former Manchester United star Jesse Lingard, who recently joined FC Seoul, showed his support by liking the post.
As the newly appointed ambassador for Tesla Korea, Kim Ye Ji shared the news on her social media on November 1.
