BTS has added another track to their list of songs, surpassing 500 million streams.
According to the world’s largest music streaming platform, Spotify, BTS’s repackaged album title track “IDOL” surpassed 500 million cumulative streams on April 8.
This marks the group's 15th song to reach the 500 million streaming milestone. The group has released numerous hits - just last month, their 'Map of the Soul: 7' track “Black Swan” also reached that record.
“IDOL” is a dance-style track characterized by the layering of traditional Korean rhythmic patterns over drum beats. Trap-inspired rap grooves support the EDM elements.
The song was released in August 2018 and quickly dominated major global charts. It peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 21 on the UK Official Singles Chart.
Meanwhile, the version of “IDOL” featuring Nicki Minaj is also performing steadily on Spotify, nearing 200 million streams.
