Singer Tae Yeon has opened up about being misunderstood as a homebody.
Tae Yeon and SHINee’s Key recently appeared on the YouTube channel 'Narae-sik' released on the 20th.
During the episode, host Park Na Rae asked Tae Yeon what she usually does when she’s at home alone. Tae Yeon replied, "Nothing. I just exist. It’s honestly such a boring life." She elaborated, "On my days off, I truly rest. I order takeout, drink coffee, and just stare outside." Hearing this, Park Na Rae jokingly remarked, "It really sounds like a care home," expressing a mix of humor and sympathy.
Reflecting on her lifestyle, Tae Yeon admitted, "Sometimes I wonder if I lived such a busy life in my 20s just so I could zone out like this now." She went on to say, "People think, 'She’ll just stay at home,' or 'She doesn’t like drinking,' so they don’t invite me to things." When Key chimed in, calling it a "misunderstanding," Tae Yeon passionately responded, "I miss people. I actually like being around people."
Tae Yeon also discussed her behavior during overseas schedules, revealing, "I don’t leave the hotel. I sometimes wonder if there’s something wrong with me. I treat work as work. Maybe I just haven’t met someone who can draw me out of this. Even the staff around me don’t encourage me to step out. I feel so misunderstood. I really want to go out."
Her candid remarks revealed a longing to break free from the misconceptions surrounding her personality, resonating with fans and viewers alike.
