On the November 5th episode of KBS Cool FM’s Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show, JYP's head, J.Y. Park, appeared on the "Masters of Legends" segment to discuss various topics.
Ahead of his upcoming year-end concert, Park Jin Young shared, “It’s really exciting news—the tickets are sold out. I’m so happy. My biggest fear is announcing a show and the tickets not selling. It’s so terrifying I can’t sleep. It took about two weeks to sell out, and when I checked a week after the ticket sales opened, around 84% had already been sold.”
He continued, “At my concerts, I feel an incredible thrill when I play the piano and hear the audience sing along. Taking out my in-ear monitor to listen to the crowd is such a joy,” he added.
When Park Myung Soo asked about his health regimen, Park Jin Young replied, “You have to be careful about what you eat. You can’t just eat anything; you need to be selective. I don’t go out drinking, but I might have a drink with a meal. I miss drinking socially, but I haven’t done that in about ten years. I eat ramen once every month or two, savoring it, and I only use half the noodle pack, adding bean sprouts, egg, and green onions.”
On the topic of JYP artists like Twice and ITZY, Park stated, “They have to do well. My success or failure doesn’t impact the company’s revenue much. What matters is that I don’t lose my sense for the field. The real revenue of the company depends on them—they are more important than I am. We have many staff, so it's essential for other artists to succeed.”
Park Myung Soo then asked Park Jin Young about his copyright earnings. Park Jin Young disclosed, “The top-earning song is one by Twice. No matter how big previous hits were, Twice’s songs are on a completely different scale because they’re heard globally. For example, Don’t Leave Me, Wonder Girls’ Nobody, and Twice’s What is Love? differ by almost a factor of 100. At first, I thought I was looking at it wrong because the numbers were so different.”
Park Jin Young also spoke about Wonder Girls’ U.S. debut, saying, “I knew there was less than a 10% chance of success, but I really wanted to try it. It was a meaningful challenge, and I still feel grateful and sorry to Wonder Girls for their effort.” He proudly added, “Last year, the top album seller in the U.S. was Taylor Swift, and second was Stray Kids.”
