Chef Triple Star (real name Kang Seung Won), who gained fame on Netflix’s 'Culinary Class Wars,' has been noticeably absent from his fine dining restaurant, Trid, following recent controversy surrounding his private life.
According to Xports News on October 31, Triple Star has not been working at his restaurant, Trid. Restaurant staff informed the media outlet that Chef Kang is currently away due to “scheduled commitments” and is expected to return by mid-November or December.
Before the scandal, Triple Star often greeted guests at Trid, even taking photos with them upon request. Just days before the controversy erupted, visitors shared photos with him at the restaurant, suggesting that his absence may be related to the recent allegations rather than personal scheduling conflicts.
Meanwhile, reservations at Trid remain unaffected. Monthly bookings for December, which open on November 1, and special Christmas reservations scheduled to open on November 13, are continuing as planned. Despite the ongoing scandal, November’s bookings have reportedly sold out without any cancellations.
Triple Star, who rose to popularity as one of the top three contestants on 'Culinary Class Wars,' faced allegations from his ex-wife, referred to as “A,” and another individual, “B.” A claimed that she helped him secure a position at a well-known restaurant by gifting a luxury bag to connections, and alleged that Triple Star later pressured her into undesirable situations. Further, she released an apology letter supposedly written by Triple Star, containing regret over his actions, as well as messages where he allegedly issued threats such as, “I want to rip you apart and kill you” and “I want to stab you and kill you.”
Additional claims emerged, including accusations of embezzling funds from his restaurant and that A had shouldered a 3.7 billion KRW (approx. 2.7 million USD) deposit alone in preparation for their marriage.
Triple Star is scheduled to participate in a Seoul City culinary event on November 3. Initially, Seoul City stated that the event would proceed as planned despite public complaints filed through the e-People online portal. However, as controversy deepened, they later clarified that his participation is now under review.
Netflix commented that they are “unable to verify or provide statements regarding media reports on cast members’ personal matters.” Meanwhile, Triple Star has yet to issue any formal response and has disabled comments on his restaurant’s and personal social media accounts.
