Following the announcement of Seventeen member Jeonghan's upcoming military enlistment, which other idols will need to enlist soon has become a hot topic on Korean online forums.
On August 17, Korean entertainment outlet iZit Magazine reacted to the news by posting the following on their official social media account: "The time has come for our beloved idols to temporarily leave us and fulfill their mandatory military service. While our hearts are full of sadness, it's time to let them go for the sake of the country. In particular, many members of Seventeen are about to enlist, making fans feel even more regretful. ☹️."
Alongside the message, they released a list of popular male celebrities who will likely need to enlist by the end of 2025. The list, comprised of those born in 1996, reads as follows:
"Second half of 2024
- Seventeen's Jeonghan
Projected for 2025 enlistment
- Seventeen's Wonwoo
- Seventeen's Hoshi
- Seventeen's Woozi
- NCT's Doyoung
- Kang Daniel
- [Actor] Kim Young Dae"
Fans following iZit Magazine's account were quick to leave comments reacting to the list, with many expressing disbelief. Comments included, "Doyoungie doesn't have to go. My dad will go a second time in his place," "Kim Doyoung, where are you going?!," "I'll just go in their place," "Seventeen... don't go...," and "Kang Daniel, don't go."
Other comments reacted more generally to the situation. One follower joked about the list's visuals with "The Ministry of Defense's treasure box is so shiny," while another left an amused "So when Seventeen leaves, BTS returns."
Meanwhile, while Pledis Entertainment has announced Jeonghan will enlist later this year, an official date has yet to be confirmed.
