Jo Jung Suk opens up about fatherhood on Youtube channel

Jo Jung Suk shares parenting stories for the first time.

On August 23 KST, the YouTube channel ‘House Daesung’ featured a video titled “The Best Output Created by What’s Up | House Daeseong ep.20,” where actor Jo Jung Suk made a guest appearance.

During the show, Daesung warmly welcomed Jo Jung Suk, saying, “This is the first time we’ve had a couple on ‘House Daesung’.” Jo Jung Suk humorously responded, “It would have been even better if we had appeared together,” expressing a bit of regret. When Daesung mentioned, “We’re still a small channel, maybe we can grow bigger first,” Jo Jung Suk replied, “Well, someone has to stay home to look after the kids,” showing his fatherly side.

Daesung then brought up a past episode where Jo Jung Suk’s wife, singer Gummy, appeared on the show. He recalled telling Jo Jung Suk, “I’m a huge fan of Gummy,” to which Gummy humorously asked why he never mentioned it to her. Jo Jung Suk echoed this, asking, “Why didn’t you tell me then?” which led to some laughs.

When Daesung asked, “Was that really a sign that you were interested?” Jo Jung Suk joked, “If you had told me, who knows… maybe we could have gone on a date.” This led to Daeseong reflecting on how he didn’t think much of it at the time, simply concluding that Jo Jung Suk was just another fan. Jo Jung Suk playfully added, “I wasn’t even ready to be set up for a date, but if you had mentioned it… well, who knows?”

The conversation then took a surprising turn when Jo Jung Suk advised Daesung to “freeze your sperm.” Daesung, caught off guard, asked, “Where would you even do that? You can’t just freeze it in the freezer, can you? Is there a system for that in our country?” Jo Jung Suk clarified, “You can go to a sperm bank.” Daesung then shared that he had discussed sperm banking seriously with Jo Jung Suk and another friend at one of Gummy’s concerts, and that he definitely had plans for a second child. Jo Jung Suk encouraged him, saying, “If you have plans for a second child, I support it.”

Jo Jung Suk also shared his personal parenting story for the first time. “We opted for rooming-in after the birth, where I took care of everything for the baby,” he recalled. “Waking up every two hours to feed the baby was exhausting. I couldn’t get any sleep. But after three or four days, we finally went to the postpartum care center, and I joined too because I wanted to stay close.”

He continued, “The care center was great, but once it was over and we went home, the real parenting began. I made a personal resolution to take care of everything myself, no matter what. I didn’t want to regret it later. For almost 100 days, I did everything. I was the master of putting the baby to sleep during that time.” He even shared some tips on how to put a baby to sleep, bringing laughter to the conversation.

When Daesung asked how Jo Jung Suk would feel if his daughter had a boyfriend, Jo Jung Suk, visibly distressed, took a sip of his drink and admitted, “I haven’t even thought about it. I can’t even imagine.” This led Daesung to ask what he would think if the boyfriend had a personality similar to his own. Jo Jung Suk responded, “If it’s someone like you, I’d be fine with it. I know you’re a good person.” bringing a heartfelt moment to the conversation.
