Actress Song Hye-kyo and Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women's University have teamed up once again for a philanthropic endeavor.
On July 17th, they announced the donation of guidebooks highlighting Korean independence movement sites in Paris.
The guidebooks, produced in both Korean and French, have been distributed in 10,000 copies to the Korean Education Center in France and the Korean Pavilion at the Cité Internationale Universitaire de Paris. These guidebooks provide detailed information about significant sites such as the residence of renowned independence activist Seo Young-hae, the Korean Communications Office, the former Paris branch of the Korean Provisional Government, and the founding site of the Paris Korean Friendship Association.
Professor Seo stated, "With the upcoming Paris Olympics, many Koreans and foreigners are expected to visit Paris. We wanted to widely introduce the Korean independence movement sites to them." He emphasized the poor preservation status of overseas sites related to Korea’s independence movement and underscored the importance of continued interest and visits from Korean citizens to raise awareness and support preservation efforts. For those unable to visit Paris, the guidebooks are also available for download from the "History of Korea" website.
Over the past 13 years, Song Hye-kyo has sponsored and Professor Seo has planned the donation of Korean-language guidebooks, signs, and relief artworks of independence activists to 36 sites worldwide, preserving the legacy of Korea’s independence movement.
