BLACKPINK's JENNIE scores another historic record with her debut solo song "SOLO."
On February 29, 2024, Jennie's "SOLO" surpassed One Billion views on YouTube, marking a historical record for K-pop female soloists by being the first to achieve this on the platform. At the same time it became the first music video by a K-pop Soloist in 10 years to reach 1 Billion views since PSY's Gentleman.
Jennie's beautiful chords, clear melody line and confidence expressed in her song "SOLO" through simple and honest lyrics have been key to it receiving a lot of love from the public over the years and staying stable until today on both YouTube and Spotify, where it is currently the most streamed song by a K-pop Female Soloist on the platform.
Currently, the only K-pop Artists who have surpassed One Billion views on YouTube with at least one song are BLACKPINK, BTS, PSY, and JENNIE; however, LISA will soon join them as she is less than 30 million views away from reaching the milestone.
Additionally, Jennie joins Cardi B and Nicki Minaj as the only female rappers in history to have at least one solo music video reach one billion views on YouTube, while Jennie's 'SOLO' and 'Bodak Yellow' by Cardi B are the only debut songs by female rappers that reach this figure on the platform.
Fans were quick to congratulate the superstar with beautiful messages, while the tagline "JENNIE ONE BILLION THRONE" and the hashtag #SOLOTO1BILLION became worldwide trends within minutes of news of Jennie's recent exploits.
Congratulations to BLACKPINK's JENNIE!
A day can't pass without a bp streaming achievement. Can understand, little blinks have nothing to do.
