Singer and actress Hyeri is making a return to the school uniform in her upcoming series, 'Friendly Competition,' as confirmed on February 6 KST.
'Friendly Competition,' adapted from the popular webtoon of the same name, revolves around the story of Seulgi, who transfers to an elite girls' high school in Seoul following her father's sudden demise. As she befriends Jae Yee, the class's top student and a formidable figure, she begins to uncover a darker side to Jae Yee. This mystery psychological thriller, also known as a GL (Girl Love) story, unveils the secrets surrounding a mysterious death.
Hyeri takes on the role of Yoo Jae Yee, a character endowed with a high IQ and exceptional talents, despite not fitting conventional beauty standards. In contrast to Woo Seul Gi, who was subjected to bullying, Yoo Jae Yee is the envy of everyone around her, and the series portrays the intriguing journey of these two characters gradually falling for each other, laden with doubt and mutual vigilance, as they share similar pains.
'Friendly Competition' is expected to push boundaries as it delves into the lives of teenagers grappling with various addictions, tackling mature themes such as drugs, self-harm, and masturbation. The series is set to carry a 19+ rating due to its challenging subject matter. The screenplay is penned by writer Kim Tae Hee.
In addition to her role in 'Friendly Competition,' Hyeri is gearing up for the release of the movie 'Victory' and is actively engaged in filming 'Tropical Night.'
Are there any other GL kdramas? I've only heard of BLs.
