The iconic hit song "Spring Day" by BTS celebrated its 7th anniversary on February 13, 2024.
According to Big Hit Music, BTS's "Spring Day," the title track from the album extension 'You Never Walk Alone' following 'WINGS,' has maintained a consistent presence on the Melon Daily chart for an impressive 7 consecutive years without a single day's absence.
Since its release on February 13, 2017, the song has held a spot on Melon's Daily (top 100 songs) chart for 7 consecutive years. The Melon Daily chart ranks based on 60% of music downloads and 40% of streaming among service users. Despite the staggering number of music released last year—exceeding 600,000—the enduring popularity of "Spring Day," even after 7 years, is truly remarkable.
Moreover, as of 4 a.m. on the 13th, 'Spring Day' has amassed over 969 million streams on Melon, dominating the streaming charts within the site every minute and every second. Melon awards the 'Billion's Bronze Club' badge to artists with a total streaming count of 1 billion. BTS appears poised to meet this condition effortlessly with just the song 'Spring Day.'
Music experts attribute the enduring popularity of "Spring Day" to its warm and heartfelt message. The lyrics, which draw from RM and Suga's personal experiences, add depth and authenticity to the song.
"Spring Day" marked a departure for BTS, representing their first emotional title track. Before this, they had mainly promoted songs with powerful performances such as "No More Dream", "Fire", and "Blood Sweat & Tears" as title tracks. As an alternative hip-hop genre, "Spring Day" successfully captured fans' interest with its contrasting mood compared to previous title tracks.
In a past interview, leader RM stated, "We and the public share contemporaneity. I believe we need to bring out stories that resonate with us and those around us, regardless of the topic." He also expressed his desire to create a song that would remain a favorite among Koreans for years to come.
