Annually, rookie K-Pop idols are presented with the opportunity to win the prestigious "Rookie of the Year" awards at various year-end shows. These awards, attainable only once in an idol's career, are highly sought after.
Attaining these awards at all five major shows—Mnet Asian Music Awards (MAMA), Melon Music Awards (MMA), Golden Disk Awards (GDA), Seoul Music Awards (SMA), and Circle Chart Music Awards (CCMA)—earns the title of the "Rookie Grand Slam". This rare achievement has only been accomplished a few times.
On January 10th, ZEROBASEONE won the rookie award at CCMA, becoming the 7th K-Pop group and the first boy group in four years to complete the Rookie Grand Slam. They join the ranks of SHINee (2008), iKON (2015), WANNA ONE (2017), ITZY and TXT (2019), and aespa (2022).
Seok Matthew of ZEROBASEONE also co-hosted the CCMA event with Super Junior's Leeteuk and STAYC's Sieun.
Zhang Hao from ZEROBASEONE was awarded the VIAJE Global Popularity Award, marking him as the first foreign idol and the third individual idol to receive this honor, following EXO's Sehun (2016) and Girls' Generation's Taeyeon (2017).
Congratulations to ZEROBASEONE, Seok Matthew, and Zhang Hao!
I've been seeing all these fans yapping about zb1, but they really deserve this, their music is really good and all the members are talented.
