The popular reality dating show 'Single Inferno 3' has concluded, taking both contestants and viewers on an emotional roller coaster of drama.
Season 3 of 'Single's Inferno' has successfully forged four couples, allowing them to discover love and depart Inferno Island hand in hand. According to viewer reviews, the third season of 'Single's Inferno' proved to be the most captivating yet, with unpredictable love connections unfolding even in the final episodes.
Just as in the previous seasons, many contestants rose to fame, garnering much attention from the public. Among the contestants, however, one contestant faced backlash in the last two episodes for her rude remarks.
Kim Gyu Ri, who received much attention for her beauty, disappointed viewers and panelists during her conversation with another contestant, Choi Min Woo. During the show, Kim Gyu Ri was engaged in a love triangle with Yoo Si Eun, and Choi Min Woo, as both she and Yoo Si Eun were vying for Min Woo's affection. However, during the 10th episode, Choi Min Woo began to lean toward Yoo Si Eun after visiting Paradise Island with Kim Gyu Ri.
Realizing that Choi Min Woo's heart was not wholly hers, Kim Gyu Ri decided to talk privately with Choi Min Woo. During this time, Kim Gyu Ri maintained a condescending tone, delivering insults to Min Woo by comparing his behavior to that of Gwan Hee, which was also disrespectful to Lee Gwan Hee.
Additionally, she revealed in her individual interview session, "During the short time I was away, he had a change of heart. I found it ridiculous that he couldn't even wait one day. He said if I had expressed my feelings clearly, then he wouldn't have done what he did. But I personally think that he should've known how I felt about him. The fact he began to lean toward Si Eun because she expressed her feelings more than I did just proves how shallow his feelings for me were. That's why I wouldn't be caught dead with a guy like that."
After the show aired, Kim Gyu Ri faced much criticism not only from the panelists but Korean netizens. Many thought her condescending tone toward Min Woo was disrespectful, and her insult referencing Gwan Hee was also rude.
With increasing backlash, Kim Gyu Ri released an apology on her Instagram on January 11. She wrote, " I want to apologize to the many viewers who may not have felt good due to my actions. In specific situations and interviews, there was a lot of recklessness in my expressions of emotions. Even at that time and after watching the broadcast, I deeply regretted and reflected on my careless words."
Below is Kim Gyu Ri's full letter on her Instagram:
"Hello. This is Kim Gyu Ri.
First, thank you to all the viewers who watched 'Single's Inferno 3.' Participating in the program brought me an overwhelming amount of attention and love that I couldn't have imagined as an ordinary person. I sincerely appreciate the excessive interest, love, concerns, and criticisms that you have showered upon me. I will cherish them in my heart.
I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to my fellow members of 'Single's Inferno 3.' Last summer was an especially happy and precious time for me. Being together with our 12 members made it even more valuable and special. Thanks to all of you, I received unforgettable experiences and moments in life, and they will remain in my memory for a long time. I genuinely love all the staff members who shared happy and painful moments with me throughout the nine days.
Lastly, as I conclude 'Single's Inferno 3,' I want to apologize to the many viewers who may not have felt good due to my actions. In specific situations and interviews, there was a lot of recklessness in my expressions of emotions. Even at that time and after watching the broadcast, I deeply regretted and reflected on my careless words.
In the extreme physical conditions, I experienced various emotions for the first time, the ebb and flow of conflicting emotions, and the disappointment in myself for not being able to maturely control my emotions as I expressed them differently than what was in my heart.
I sincerely apologized to the parties involved, both during and after the broadcast, conveying my genuine apologies. I am grateful that they expressed concern for me and understood my feelings even more. However, regardless of how Si Eun and Min Woo felt and accepted it, my reckless mistake leaves no room for excuses. I also want to apologize once again to the many fans who cherish Si Eun and Min Woo, as well as the viewers who love 'Single's Inferno,' for causing discomfort with my attitude on the show.
Through this incident, I will reflect deeply on myself, strive to become a better person, and seize the opportunity for personal growth. I learned a lot personally from participating in 'Single's Inferno 3.' I sincerely thank the viewers who accompanied me on my learning journey without sparing criticism and complaints.
To our atmosphere maker Gwan Hee, the adorable and confident Ha Jung, the quiet yet deep-hearted and determined Min Woo, the caring and independent and fun Hye Sun, the soulful and pure, lovely rabbit-like Si Eun, the always lively and kind, cute endorphin-like Min Young, the caring and affectionate handsome Won Ik, the truly amazing in various aspects, charming Jin Suk, the silently determined and admirable Ha Bin, the lovely and intelligent and cute Min Ji, and everyone, thank you sincerely for spending unforgettable time together with me, who was awkward and lacking ♥
Once again, thank you to everyone who joined 'Single's Inferno 3.'
Thank you for reading this long message. Thank you."
