Im Si-wan has captured the hearts of viewers, leading to the confirmation of Season 2 for the drama ‘Boyhood’.

As of the 9th, it has been confirmed by OSEN that the production team of ‘Boyhood’ is currently working on the script for Season 2, aiming to enhance the narrative’s depth and quality.

However, details of Season 2’s logline have not yet been conveyed to the actors, including Im Si-wan and Lee Sun-bin.

The story could continue with the aftermath of Jang Byung-tae (played by Im Si-wan) winning his final showdown against ‘Asan White Tiger’ Jung Kyung-tae (played by Lee Si-woo), or it might revolve around the untold backstory of ‘Black Spider’ Park Ji-young (played by Lee Sun-bin) from Season 1. Alternatively, a prequel covering an earlier timeline is also being considered.

At present, the script for Season 2 has not been finalized.

‘Boyhood’, which started filming in June last year and shot for three months, met viewers in November after just two months of post-production.

Given the fast-paced work of director Lee Myung-woo and the fact that the OTT platform has been decided as Coupang Play, Season 2 might be released as early as this year.

‘Boyhood’ (scripted by Kim Jae-hwan, directed by Lee Myung-woo) is a comic action drama set in 1989 in Chungcheongnam-do. It tells the story of Onyang loser Byung-tae (played by Im Si-wan), whose life goal is to avoid trouble, suddenly transforming into the top guy of Buyeo overnight.

The drama’s popularity is evident in numbers. After its release through Coupang Play on November 24 last year, it rapidly gained popularity, increasing viewership by 2914% by the end of its run.

Additionally, Coupang Play’s monthly user count reached a record high of 6.65 million users (as of December 2023), surpassing 6 million for the first time. The popularity of ‘Boyhood’, released from the end of November to December last year, is believed to have contributed to this increase in users.
