Actress Song Ji Hyo triumphs in lawsuit against former agency, Uzurocks, securing settlement victory

AKP STAFF

Actress Song Ji Hyo has emerged victorious in her legal battle against her former agency, Uzurocks, as the lawsuit has concluded with a settlement.

According to the court on December 13, Song Ji Hyo's former agency, Uzurocks, did not file an appeal with the Seoul Central District Court Civil Settlement Division 45, which handled the initial trial, within the designated appeal period.

In civil lawsuits, the window for challenging a judgment is typically limited to two weeks from the date the judgment is issued. As Uzurocks failed to file an appeal after receiving the judgment on November 28, Song Ji Hyo has ultimately secured victory in the settlement claim lawsuit.

The court had previously ruled in favor of Song Ji Hyo on November 22, ordering Uzurocks to pay 984 million won in unpaid settlement along with some accrued late interest. This settlement implies that Song Ji Hyo is entitled to receive compensation exceeding 1 billion won.

Throughout the legal proceedings, Uzurocks exhibited a lack of response, including failing to appoint legal representation and provide a defense. Consequently, the court made its decision in accordance with the prevailing Civil Procedure Act, effectively concluding the case without further arguments.

The legal dispute commenced when Song Ji Hyo terminated her exclusive contract with Uzurocks on April 14, amid disputes over unpaid wages and recommended resignations. Subsequently, on May 2, a lawsuit was filed seeking settlement, and Park Joon Nam, the former CEO of Uzurocks, faced allegations of embezzlement.

In the wake of these developments, Song Ji Hyo signed an exclusive contract with Nexus E&M in October and confirmed her participation in the movie 'Meeting House.'

The lack of contention means she's not getting paid. They're going to simply dissolve the company.
