K-Pop, while a source of immense joy and vibrant energy, has also been the backdrop for moments that have left fans heartbroken and longing. It is devastating when the groups that have danced and sung their way into our hearts make the difficult decision to part ways, either as a group or with individual members forging their separate paths. While sometimes these departures seem to happen amicably and with the idols still remaining good friends, the fact that it all happened too suddenly, and sometimes no explanation is ever given makes it extra heartbreaking.
Here are some of these departures that fans are still not over.
With how great his solo career is going and the group is also heading in the same direction, fans are slowly getting over the group's former leader's departure. However, both fans and the group were deeply gutted by this departure.
Mashiho & Yedam from TREASURE
As if iKON wasn't enough, the group's little brother faced the same fate of having not only one but two of their members leave. Fans were especially devastated because Yedam trained with YG for so long and was finally in a group to just ended up departing so early in their career.
Hwall from The Boyz
If you didn't know, he was part of The Boyz but had a hard time when he suffered from a severe ankle injury. Despite the injuries, fans could see he was trying his hardest to pull through them, but his body just couldn’t take it anymore, and ultimately had to leave. He now goes by his real name, Hyunjun Hur, and is an actor.
Love from OnlyOneOf
It was one of those cases where he left out of the blue with absolutely no explanation. That had fans super bummed because it feels like there was no closure as to why he had to leave.
It was sad that he had to leave, but what made it sadder was that he was very vocal about keeping the seven of them together. He even talked about asking the members to renew their contract once it was over. It really seemed like he left because he just didn't want to cause trouble for his teammates. Truly an angel.
Jinni from NMIXX
It's another sad one where fans don't even know why to this very day. She just had to leave out of the blue, and fans... just had to accept that fact.
She was unfortunately caught in a school violence controversy and eventually left the group, leading the group to a temporary hiatus. Both members and fans were obviously devastated by the departure, but now the queens are back stronger than ever.
Jessica from Girls Generation
Despite it being ten years ago, this was still a sad one. Jessica was dismissed from the group due to alleged conflicts between the group's schedule and her own business activities. Fans don't really get closure explaining what really went on behind closed doors, and that's sad.
Ravn from ONEUS
He was one of the main producers for the group, so when he left, that really left a huge hole in the group and fandom. Whether fans think he's guilty or not (nothing has been proven), it's still sad that he left.
This seven-piece group from R.A.I.N Company is now left with three members after four of them recently left the group. They had very huge potential but sadly, the adults had to ruin things for them.
Good list but who can forget the utter MESS that was Luhan, Kris, and Tao leaving EXO. That completely destroyed the EXO-K and M units and just in general created drama between international fans and SM in determining who was the bad guy. Also Kyla leaving PRISTIN pretty much served as catalyst for the group eventually disbanding.
