Netizens have struck up a debate about a recent vlog shared on YouTube, which featured ZEROBASEONE member Sung Han Bin spending a day with his college friends.
The video, believed to have been uploaded earlier this week by one of Sung Han Bin's college classmates, consisted of the vlogger, Sung Han Bin, and a handful of other classmates going out for lunch, then a walk on the school campus. Here, some of the classmates took Sung Han Bin's car, and the ZEROBASEONE member was filmed in the driver's seat, making comments such as "You can just step on it," when asked about a bag in the back seat.
Judging by Sung Han Bin's outfit, fans quickly concluded that the vlog was filmed on the same day that Sung Han Bin attended classes on his college campus during a short break between filmings for Mnet's 'Boys Planet'.
After the vlog video was posted, several fans quickly demanded that the video be taken down, although the vlogger confirmed that Sung Han Bin himself had given permission for the video to be made public.
Despite the fact that the video has now been deleted, netizens are now heatedly debating whether or not the incident was "problematic" or not.
Specifically, some have compiled a list of reasons why the video was "problematic":
"1. A male idol is being overly friendly with his female friends.
2. When some of his friends said 'You should definitely win 1st place', he laughed, but then he got 2nd place.
3. He asked if that underground bar was still open, talking about going out drinking and parting like it's something to be proud of.
4. He apparently thought if the video went up, it would make him look like a 'handsome college sunbae' and gave permission.
5. He's already been involved in a number of problematic situations with his 'female friends'."
Others also agreed with some of the above and commented,
"Wow, I know he hasn't debuted yet but he's about to debut really soon and he still has no idea how this idol business is done... female friends? Those will get you removed from a group."
"If any other idol uploaded a video hanging out with their non-celebrity female friends, it would cause so many problems."
"What makes me really angry is the fact that he gave permission in the first place."
"Regardless of whether or not anyone had any bad intentions behind it, something like this can easily be turned around by anti's as an ordinary person 'fishing for views by selling their famous friend' or 'An idol who loves attention too much'."
"He went and drove around with a group of girls to see cherry blossoms while he was in the middle of filming 'Boys Planet'. What is this if not problematic?"
Meanwhile, those who did not find the incident quite "problematic" commented,
"He's just an ordinary college kid hanging out with his classmates..?"
"How is this making fans angry?? I'm so confused."
"He just seems like a really sociable person. And apparently he's still attending classes these days?"
"Sorry to break it to you young fans but all college students go out to eat and drink with their friends and talk about all kinds of gossip..."
"The people who are finding this problematic are probably just jealous because they don't have friends to go eat with."
"He was just sweet and friendly in the video. What's there to be mad about?"
they probably think having friends is "problematic" cause knetz never had that experience themselves 🤭
