MIRAE's Lien garnered criticism after he used a flood filter for a Weverse post, right on the 9th anniversary day of the Sewol Ferry tragedy.
On April 16, MIRAE's Lien took to Weverse to post a photo of what seemed to be a flooded office. He then wrote to his fans, "Save me! The reason why our company needs to move soon." While Lien had attempted to joke with his fans, many K-Netizens were baffled at the very wrong timing of Lien's post. April 16, 2023 marks the 9th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry tragedy, a terrible event where many students passed away during their field trip back in 2014 leading to a long period of national mourning.
One K-Netizen took to Twitter to write, "It's the 9th anniversary of the Sewol Ferry [tragedy], but who is this idol using this kind of filter? He can use a normal filter, but did he really have to express something pretending to be flooded, ask for help, and laugh about it? Ignorance is a crime too."
Oof. Talk about bad timing.
