The School of Performing Arts Seoul, or SOPA for short, is a prestigious arts high school that was founded in 1966 and is located in Gung-dong, Guro District, in Seoul. Many South Korean celebrities, mainly K-pop idols, have graduated from this highly-regarded school, and many more are currently enrolled. Because of their hectic schedules, idols usually attend SOPA instead of a regular high school.
Every year, many idols graduate from SOPA. According to reports, the 2023 graduation ceremony will take place on February 9. Let’s have a look at the K-pop idols who are on the list of 2023 SOPA's STAR and are expected to graduate from this renowned school this year.
Park Jeongwoo
Known for his soulful voice Park Jeongwoo is the main vocalist of TREASURE. He was born in Iksan, South Korea, in 2004. During elementary school, he was an exchange student in Australia. This 18-year-old idol is a student of SOPA’s Practical Music Department who will be graduating in the upcoming graduation ceremony.
Jang Wonyoung
Jang Wonyoung, who is known as the fourth generation’s IT girl, is a vocalist of the K-pop girl group IVE and a former member of IZ*ONE. In 2004, she was born in Seoul. Wonyoung, a student in the Practical Music Department, will graduate from SOPA on February 9. Previously, she attended Yonggang Middle School but later withdrew.
Kim Yeonkyu
Kim Yeonkyu is a member of the rookie boy group ATBO. Born in Seoul in 2004, he was a former YG Entertainment trainee. Practical Music is the department where the majority of the idols study. It comes as no surprise that Yeonkyu is another idol who will graduate from this department at the upcoming SOPA ceremony.
Lee Jaehee
Lee Jaehee is a member of the South Korean girl group WEEEKLY. She is a student at SOPA's Theatre and Film Department. She chose this department over Practical Music because she was a child actress. Jaehee was born in 2004 in Gyeonggi-do, South Korea, and graduated from Daesong Middle School.
Lee Yu Jeong
Lee Yu Jeong is a vocalist and the youngest member of the K-pop girl group LIGHTSUM. She was also a contestant on Produce 48. On February 9, Yujeong will graduate from SOPA as a student of the Theatre & Film Department. She previously attended Bongwon Middle School. She was born in Seoul in 2004.
Cho Wooju
Cho Wooju is a vocalist and songwriter of the K-pop boy group BLITZERS, which is managed by Wuzo Entertainment. He was born on January 21, 2004, making him the group's youngest member. The idol, who is 19 years old, is on the list of SOPA's STARs who are expected to graduate this year.
Kang Damin
Kang Damin is a dancer and vocalist of the rookie girl group QUEENZ EYE which is managed by Big Mountain Entertainment. She was a contestant in Produce 48 and ranked 62nd. Damin is a student at SOPA in the Department of Practical Dance, and she will graduate at the upcoming graduation ceremony.
Kim Yeseul
Kim Yeseul is a vocalist and the youngest member of the South Korean girl group Hi-L. She was born in 2004 in Gyeonggi-do. Yeseul is a student at SOPA in the Department of Applied Music. Prior to this, she attended Hanbyeol Middle School, where she was in the band club. This SOPA'S Star is about to graduate.
Kang Seungchan
Kang Seungchan is a singer, rapper, and maknae of the K-pop boy group Newkidd, which debuted in 2019. Additionally, he is a composer and songwriter. The group is under the management of J-FLO Entertainment. Seungchan is also listed among the idols who will graduate this year.
