The 5 fastest K-pop girl groups to achieve their first Perfect All-Kill

AKP STAFF

A song is said to have a Perfect All-Kill (PAK) when it has charted at number one on the daily and real-time charts of all major South Korean music streaming platforms like Melon, Genie, Bugs, FLO, VIBE, and YouTube music, as well as number one on Instiz's real-time and weekly iChart. Songs that earn the Perfect All Kill achievement are regarded as huge hits in South Korea. It isn’t easy for rookie groups to get this achievement. Here are the top five fastest K-pop girl groups to achieve their first Perfect All-Kill.

1. BLACKPINK (6 Days)

BLACKPINK dubbed the "biggest girl group in the world," is the most popular female K-pop act globally. The group made their debut on August 8, 2016, with the debut single album “Square One,” which features the two tracks “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” Whistle" quickly topped every major chart, earning BLACKPINK their first Perfect All-kill of their career on August 14, just 6 days after making their official debut. BLACKPINK is the fastest K-pop act to achieve a Perfect All-kill with a debut song.

    2. NewJeans (146 Days)

NewJeans is a rookie girl group formed by ADOR, a subsidiary of Hybe Corporation. The girl group gained popularity shortly after making their debut. NewJeans debuted on August 1, 2022, and made their first comeback after four months with a pre-release single, “Ditto.” The song was released on December 19, 2022. “Ditto” peaked at the top of all charts, and on December 26, NewJeans got their first Perfect All-kill after 146 days of their official debut. As of now, New Jeans is the fastest fourth-generation K-pop group to obtain this achievement.

      3. I.O.I (Five Months)

I.O.I was a South Korean girl group formed through Mnet’s reality survival program “Produce 101” by CJ E&M. They debuted on May 4, 2016, with the release of their debut album, "Chrysalis," and remained active until 2017. The girl group officially disbanded at the end of January 2017. On October 17, 2016, I.O.I released their extended play album, "Miss Me?" The title track of the album “Very Very Very” brought I.O.I their very first music show trophy as a whole group as well as the first Perfect All-kill of their career. I.O.I received certified Perfect All-kill on October 19, five months after their debut.

        4. TWICE (Six Months)

TWICE is a popular third-generation K-pop girl group that was formed through the television show “Sixteen” by JYP Entertainment. The nine-member group made their debut on October 20, 2015, and released their first extended play album, “The Story Begins.” Dubbed the “Nation’s Girl Group,” TWICE released their second extended play album, “Page Two,” on April 25, 2016. The lead single of the album “Cheer Up” became TWICE’s first chart-topper in their home country and earned them the first Perfect All-kill of their career on April 27, 2016, just six months after their debut.

          5. IVE (9 Months)

IVE is a South Korean rookie girl group formed and managed by Starship Entertainment. They made their debut on December 1, 2021, with their debut single album, “Eleven.” On August 22, IVE made their second comeback and dropped their third single album, "After Like." It was one of the most successful comebacks of IVE. The lead track of the album “After Like” topped all the charts. "After Like" was officially certified Perfect All-kill on September 13. It took them 9 months to achieve this.

For K-pop artists, it is one of the most difficult milestones to attain. With 21 tracks, IU holds the record for the most songs to accomplish the accomplishment. With 610 hours, BTS's "Dynamite" holds the record for the most hourly PAKs, and BIGBANG is the top idol group with the most songs to earn the coveted PAK, with six songs.

NewJeans is I believe in 3rd place for # of PAKs for a song after BTS and IU, and they came very close to taking the #2 spot, for Ditto.
