Fans of the girl group Cignature believe this could be the last comeback that C9 Entertainment will give unless they start to get more recognition from the Korean or International public.
On January 2nd, C9 Entertainment announced that Cignature will have their first comeback in over a year. While many fans are excited about the upcoming comeback, Many fans believe this comeback could “make or break” Cignature’s career. C9 Ent. has a reputation for being indifferent to their girl groups and discarding them if they fail to achieve success.
Good Day, which was a girl group under C9 Ent., disbanded in 2019, and many fans believe the company forced the girls to disband due to not being profitable for the company.
5 of the Good Day members re-debuted in Cignature, but only 3 are still in Cignature, with the other 2 leaving the group due to personal reasons. The rest of the members had re-debuted in other projects. Many fans believe C9 ent. had “traumatized” the girls by playing with their futures as idols after 3 of the former good day members have already decided to leave the idol industry.
Many fans noticed a pattern that Cignature comebacks are always released 14 months apart from each other, which fans believe is one of the main reasons Cignature isn’t popular due to new fans unstanning the group due to the long wait period for comebacks.
Fans also noticed the group living in unfavorable conditions after it was revealed that the members usually sleep on the floor due to their dorms not having AC.
It was also revealed Universities would hire Cignature to perform since they didn’t cost anything to be hired. Many fans now believe the members were not being paid for any of their performances outside of music shows. Many think the members are just being used as free labor, and the members will go even deeper in debt.
Signfan (the fandom of Cignature) urge Kpop Fans to support their upcoming comeback, with many believing C9 Ent. will disband the group if the comeback doesn’t exceed the company’s expectations.
I am also a loona fan, so i understand why people suggest boycott or disbandment. But as a cignature fan I wholeheartedly disagree. cignatures situation and place in their company is entirely different from that of loona. cignature is the small group with a small but passionate fanbase. the company obviously doesn’t see them as potentially profitable as their other more popular artists such as CIX or Younha. So this caused them to put cignature on multiple year+ long hiatuses during their career (which isn’t even 3 years since debut quite yet). The company obviously isn’t broke, they have several very successful artists locally and internationally. They just don’t put in any effort into cignature. That’s why us fans only just ask for support from other fans. Just watch the mv one time, stream the song one time. Maybe then, C9 will be able to see that cignature is more than just potential, but that they can be profitable!!
