BTS's SUGA recently met world-renowned Japanese composer Ryuichi Sakamoto.
Sakamoto mentioned an anecdote about meeting SUGA in the final installment of 'How Many Full Moons Will I See in the Future,' an essay currently being published in the Japanese literary magazine Shincho. Sakamoto has been publishing a series of essays in Shincho since June last year, and in the latest issue, which was released on January 7, he shared his feelings about meeting SUGA as well as taking on the music for director Hirokazu Kore-eda's new film, 'Monster.'
According to Sakamoto, he had a private meeting with SUGA at the end of September last year during the idol's visit to Tokyo. Although they were only able to meet for a short time, the composer noted that the two were able to exchange musical views that transcended nationality, age, and generation. "[SUGA] thinks so much about music that one could think he has no other hobbies," the composer commented about their meeting.
Meanwhile, Sakamoto previously won an Oscar, a BAFTA, a Grammy, and 2 Golden Globe Awards for his work in original film scores, including 'The Last Emperor' (1987), while SUGA has made a name for himself as a producer thanks to collaborations with IU, Psy, Epik High, and Giriboy, among others.
Legend acknowledged and appreciated Suga. Yoongi is such a genius composer. Rm is such a genius lyricist... All BtS have their own charm.
