YOUNITE has just dropped their new mini album!
On October 31 KST, the Brand New Music group released their 3rd mini album 'YOUNI-ON,' the final installment of their 'YOU & I' album series, which included debut album 'YOUNI-BIRTH' and 2nd mini album 'YOUNI-Q.' The boy group canceled their press showcase due to the national mourning period; however, in lieu of an event, they discussed the new album through a special press release, where they answered reporter-submitted questions.
Q: This is already your third album in the six months since your debut. How do you feel?
KYUNGMUN: Through this new release, we've been able to say hello [to fans] again so quickly after finishing promotions for our 2nd mini album ‘YOUNI-Q.' We worked hard preparing so that we could show a more awesome and matured side than what we were able to show last album. We'd be so grateful if you looked forward to it and gave the album a lot of love.
WOONO: More than anything, we're excited to be able to meet our fans again so quickly. We're also very nervous about showing a new side of YOUNITE that we've never shown before. We hope you like it a lot.
DEY: We didn't feel too worried or burdened over having such a quick comeback. Actually, we're more happy that we're able to meet fans [through promotion] so often.
Q: What was the biggest challenge you experienced while working on the album, and how did you overcome it?
HYUNSEUNG: First off, this is my first time since debut that I was able to dye my hair an unconventional color. I wanted to convey a more 'fatal mood,' so I put in a lot of effort in a bunch of different ways. I was worried a lot because it was a look that the YOUNITE members had never really shown before, but I was able to gain strength thinking about how much the fans would like seeing the new look.
Q: What do you consider the 'killing point' of your new single "Bad Cupid"?
EUNHO: It's a song that has a lot of fun things to see performance-wise and a lot of killing points musically, but if I were to pick just one, I think the chorus of the song – [in Korean] "You will fall in love with me" – along with the part where we whisper seductively like Cupid.
Q: Aside from "Bad Cupid," are there any other tracks from the album you think fans should check out?
SION: I'd like to recommend a song called "Bestie." It's a song that our leader Eunsang participated in writing and composing and is also a fan song that fans and the YOUNITE members can enjoy together, so we'd be grateful if it was enjoyed and listened to just as much as "Bad Cupid."
Q: Recently, AB6IX's Lee Dae Hwi won KBS 2TV's 'Listen Up' after producing YOUNITE's "P.S. I Miss You." What was it like being a part of the final stage, and what kind of conversations did you have after the win?
EUNSANG: First of all, I was very grateful to be able to perform on the stage for the finale of 'Listen Up.' It felt special. It was a precious time for us in many different ways because it seemed like we were able to learn a lot from Dae Hwi while preparing for the performance. Of course, we greeted each other after the stage was over, but I would like to express my sincere thanks once again.
Q: In November, YOUNITE will be performing as a part of London's K.FLEX music festival, which will be the group's very first overseas activity since debut. How does it feel to be performing overseas soon, and do you have anything you want to say to the fans waiting for you abroad?
STEVE: We're delighted and really looking forward to having a meaningful performance in London for the first time. Also, it's been so long since I've used English that I've forgotten a little bit, but I think I'll be able to use my English skills after a long time. Above all, I'm very nervous thinking about meeting the fans in such a large concert hall. I hope we can have a good time together!
Q: Do you have any goals you'd like to achieve through promotions for this album?
HYUNGSEOK: YOUNITE has shown a lot of refreshing and lively sides so far, but this time, we're going to show a more mature and lethal side. The members prepared really hard, so please show lots of interest and love!
eeee im so excited for their future promotions!!! i love this album so much, have fun in London babes!! fighting <33
