The recently aired Korean series, ‘All of us Are Dead’ took the world by storm. It became a hit among viewers in no time. Even though it came out in January, the world, and rightfully so, is not done talking about it yet.
Some scenes in the show were really impactful. It will not leave our minds so easily. Few quotes/dialogues perfectly captured the essence of the show while also touching on certain deeper issues. Bullying, high school situations, helplessness, and today’s society at large, there’s a lot to think about.
If you have watched ‘All of us Are Dead,’ you will certainly remember these quotes from the series. Let’s get into it!
“You Have to Live For Them.” - Lee Cheong-San
When things were difficult for On-jo, and she found it hard to keep moving forward, Cheong San was there for her. He reminded her that there are still people who care for her. She has to find a way and live for them. If not anything, she has to live for Cheong San and her father.
“Whether You’re Rich or Poor, Got Good Grades or Bad Ones, Everyone’s Equal in An Accident.” - Nam So-Ju
It is a simple yet powerful line that tells us that at the time of a disaster, everyone’s equal. Power or money should not come into play as all lives are equal and need to be saved. It also shows how much So-Ju cares for his daughter, and for him, her happiness and safety are above everything else. He puts no pressure on her.
“If it Happens again, bite me, not yourself. If you Bite me, I’ll just become like you.” - Lee Su-Hyeok
Mostly every scene with Su-Hyeok and Nam-Ra was beautiful and added to their storyline, but this one is sure a fan favorite. It showed his love and care for Nam-Ra and that he didn’t want her to suffer alone. Having someone who genuinely cares for you, can make all the difference.
“I Really wish the School would Burn Down until Nothing’s Left.” - Min Eun-Ji
To see her character going through all that bullying in the beginning was really hurtful. Eun-Ji mentions that she wants the school to burn down, but seeing her actually achieve this in the end, was something else. It felt like poetic justice. We might not have seen much of her, but she did leave an impact.
“The Strong Are Now Ripping Apart the Weak. It Happens All the Time.” - Lee Byeong-Chan
The start to all the chaos was this. A helpless young kid not able to fight the bullies and a father’s desperate attempt to help his son. The weak who are not able to fight back are crushed by those with power in society. It happens all the time. A viewer will feel the pain and confusion as it is difficult to place Byeong Chan’s actions as right or wrong.
“No One’s Coming to Save Us.” - Jang Ha-Ri
Ha-Ri was an amazing and fearless character. She not only saves herself but also pushes others to fight for themselves. When it becomes evident that no adult is coming to save them, she leads her group to survival—a simple yet dialogue filled with many emotions.
“When it rains, you use the rain. When it’s windy, you use the wind. That’s politics.” - Park Eun Hee
All of us are Dead did not shy away from giving a realistic portrayal of the political situation. You might think she had a change of heart, but Park Eun-Hee could not care less about the chaos. All that mattered till the end was her status and power. Her mind only works in finding ways to use the current situation to her own benefit.
As a viewer, everyone sees things through a different lens, but the dominant social theme of this K-Drama was not missed. What do you think? Which quote, according to you, was the most powerful one.
