Jimin released his first-ever self-composed song, 'Promise' on December 31, 2018. It was his present to fans where as much as the lyrics were addressed to himself, as he explained in one of his Vlives, the song was also meant to bring comfort to listeners. 

Fans have loved this song since its release and always show their love and appreciation for this beautiful present by celebrating the anniversary of its release each year. For the third year anniversary, Jimin's Korean fans have donated a sum of 10.13 million Won (an equivalent of about $8530) to the Korean Children's Leukaemia Foundation to help support pediatric cancer treatment. The donation was made on December 27th under Jimin's name with the phrase "I hope it will be a warm hope for children who are overcoming pain." The ALL FOR JIMIN team has received lots of positive responses for the admirable deed of bringing some warmth to the holidays of the children.

Back in 2020, a famous US radio 103.7 KISSFM made headlines for praising Jimin and calling him 'a true gem' and shared a special story of his solo song 'Promise.' The radio station mentioned how relaxing and comforting Jimin's voice is especially when listening to this particular song, which has a calming effect after a long day of hard work.  It also stated that this could be the reason why his songs are loved by so many people across the world.

It is true that people across the globe find Jimin's voice to be very healing and comforting. On the release of 'Promise' on SoundCloud, the song had the biggest debut for any song on the platform with a reported 8.5 million streams, breaking the former record held by Drake. Of note is that this was a surprise drop and had no promotion, yet it attracted that much attention from listeners, which proves how much Jimin's voice and the lyrics captivated the hearts of fans and the general public alike.

The song's popularity did not slow down in the years to come as in 2020. It was selected as one of 'The 2019 SoundCloud Playback' songs, being the only Korean song among the six other songs from global artists also selected in this category. It was also selected as the 'Buzziest Drop,' which is a title that is accorded to the most-talked-about song of the year on SoundCloud.

Back in June of this year, the song surpassed 275 million streams and thereby holding the record of the most-streamed song of all time in SoundCloud's history. Presently, the song has amassed 303 million streams on the platform and still holds the record.
